STATEMENT OF VISION

(The IPFW Newman Catholic Fellowship Group adapted this statement from the vision statement of the National Catholic Student Coalition. The NCSC developed their mission statement with study and reflection on the U.S. bishops' statement on Campus Ministry, "Empowered by the Spirit: Campus Ministry Faces the Future", Nov. 1985.)

Empowered by the Spirit, the Newman Catholic Fellowship Group embodies Catholic identity for Catholic students from campus ministry at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne.

By living the Gospel in the modern world and gathering around our Eucharistic table, our student group strives to promote within the group we serve:

• Formation of the faith community;
• Appropriation of the faith;
• Formation of the Christian conscience;
• Education for justice;
• Facilitation of personal development; and
• Development of leaders for the future (1)

In order to fulfill our vision, we commit to:

• Actively participate in the Roman Catholic Church;
• Represent Catholic students on campus;
• Encourage participation in and support of state, regional and national coalitions;
• Provide opportunities for spiritual growth;
• Affiliate with organizations with common goals;
• Provide forums for education and discussion;
• Present a collective voice on issues of student concern;
• Nurture leadership;
• Offer opportunities for community service;
• Provide positive Catholic role models;
• Support vocational discernment; and
• Facilitate career/faith integration.

The IPFW Newman Catholic Fellowship Group seeks to be a strong, active and welcoming organization. We call our membership to carry out its commitments in a respectful and supportive manner consistent with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
