Hello Everyone,

Welcome to the new school year.  I hope you had a great summer.

Some of you know me and others don’t, so I’ll make a quick introduction. My name is Mike Gibson.  I’m the Catholic Campus Minister at IPFW and a Diocesan Advisor to the Newman Catholic fellowship group.   I'm here to help you if you would like spiritual direction, guidance, support, etc.  Feel free to stop by my office hours, send me an email, call, or send me a facebook message.  In the meantime I may send various tidbits through emails that I think may be helpful to you in your daily routine.

I know it can be a very busy time right now, adjusting to new schedules and perhaps balancing work and study time.  Amidst all of this it is important to take time to pray (even if for a short time) and find that center calm in the midst of the storm.

For many of us last year, we can say that we experienced calmness at the weekly Masses and through our fellowship time afterwards.  It was an enjoyable experience getting to know one another and building friendships. We again will have that opportunity this year through Mass celebrations and other events that we will offer.

We will keep you updated on these things through emails and through our Facebook group (“Newman Catholic Fellowship-IPFW”).  If you aren’t interested in receiving these updates, let us know.

I’ll close out with upcoming events information:

September 1st Catholic Mass on Campus-At noon in Walb 224-226- free pizza and fellowship afterwards.

September 8th Catholic Mass on Campus-Holy Day of Obligation-At noon in Walb 224-226- free pizza and fellowship afterwards.  This is the feast of the Immaculate Conception and a holy day of obligation (which means Mass attendance is required at some time during the day- either here or at your local parish).

September 15th Catholic Mass on Campus-At noon in Walb 114-116- free pizza and fellowship afterwards.

Sunday, Sept. 20th Matt Maher Concert Matt Maher, Christian singer/songwriter, will appear in concert at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20 in the North Campus Auditorium of the University of Saint Francis, 2702 Spring Street, Fort Wayne.  Check out his website for a sample of his music (www.MattMahermusic.com ).  Tickets for the concert are free to college students with a valid college ID. All other tickets are $10 and can be purchased through the University of Saint Francis Campus Ministry office, 260-399-7700, ext 6703 or ext. 6706, or at the door the evening of the concert.   Mass will be celebrated before the concert at 5 p.m. in Saint Francis Chapel at the west end of Trinity Hall.  Event Cosponsored by USF and Campus/Young Adult Ministry of FWSB.

Sept 9- Student Organization Fair Pick a time slot to help us out at IPFW’s student organization fair going on from 11:00am-2:00pm.
